Kopi Luwak World's most Expensive and Rarest Gourmet Coffee

But what makes it so expensive ? It is because the supplies are limited. Only 1,000 pounds (450 kg) at most make it into the world market each year.

But why the supply is limited ? It is because of an animal which isn't commonly found.

Well...the coffee is made from coffee berries. An animal (Asian Palm Civet) eats it. The beans of these coffee pass through their system undigested. Once they poop, people picks it up and makes coffee out of it.

Kopi luwak, or civet coffee, is one of the world's most expensive and low-production varieties of coffee. It is made from the beans of coffee berries which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) and other related civets, then passed through its digestive tract. A civet eats the berries for their fleshy pulp. Passing through a civet's intestines the beans are then defecated, keeping their shape. After gathering, thorough washing, sun drying, light roasting and brewing, these beans yield an aromatic coffee with much less bitterness.[citation needed] This coffee was widely noted as themost expensive coffee in the world with prices reaching $399 per pound. Since then Uchunari grade 0 coffee has been introduced on the international coffee market.

Kopi luwak is produced mainly on the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago. It is also produced in the Philippines (where the product is called motit coffee in the Cordillera, kape alamid in Tagalog areas) and also produced in East Timur (where it is called kafé-laku). Weasel coffee is a loose English translation of its Vietnamese name cà phê Cho^`n, where popular, chemically simulated versions are also produced. However, Vietnam has 2 farms with 300 wild civets in Dak Lak. The farmers collect the coffee seeds and produce only 300 kg of authentic Vietnamese chon coffee. The civets live in the wild and are fed beef. The processed civet beans are imported to the UK to the farmers' sole UK supplier.

Liu Bolin - Invisible Man in Real Life, Amazing Body Painting Art, Mighty Optical Illusions

Liu Bolin is a Chinese artist known for taking photographs of himself, painted in order to blend in with the background. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing. Liu Bolin, a young Beijing-based artist, has become known as the “invisible man” due to his ability to use his own body as an art material. The chameleon paints on himself, appearing to blend in with the backdrop.

Liu Bolin, was born in Shandong in 1973, graduated from the Art Department of Shandong Arts Institute with a bachelor degree in 1995, and in the year of 2001, he graduated from the Sculpture department of Central Academy of Fine Arts with a master degree.

Liu Bolin’s main areas in sculpture, photography, painting, etc. when he is a student, he have had many Exhibitions for his own works before the idea of camouflage art.

Until in the year of 2005, Mr Liu decided to do some works to protest against the government, who shut down his art studio.

In 2008, a series works named “hiding in the city” shocked the world. Inspired by how some animals can blend into their environment, Liu Bolin uses camouflage principles to create amazing contemporary art. Bolin said his inspiration came from feeling like a social outcast: People In the community cannot find suitable position, without social relations, and no one care for your fate, in a period of time feel like they are redundant people; they are invisible to the society. Mr Liu says his work is also a protest against the government, who shut down his art studio in 2005.

The Longest Tail on a Horse

The longest tail on a horse is 381 cm (12 ft 6 in) and was measured on the mare JJS Summer Breeze on 23 August 2007. She is owned by Crystal and Casey Socha of Augusta, Kansas, USA.
Two slightly different measurements were provided. One was 12 ft 7 in by Mrs Williams, one of the witnesses, the other the above, by mr Mohney, a Vet. We decided to go with the measurement that was provided by the Vet because he is the expert in the field.

Ghost Ants : Tapinoma melanocephalum

Now this is a cool looking insect. Ghost ants, or tapinoma melanocephalum feed on sweets among other things. Since their abdomens are transparent, you can actually see the color of the food that they eat.

Tapinoma melanocephalum is a species of ant that goes by the common name ghost ant. They are recognised by their dark head and pale or translucent legs and gaster (abdomen). This colouring makes this tiny ant (1'16 of an inch, 1.5 mm) seem even smaller.

The ghost ant's diet consists mainly of sweets but they will also feed on grease and occasionally living or dead insects. They exhibit a high need for moisture, and although colonies are usually established outside, they can readily "set up camp" inside domestic houses during dry conditions.

This is a widespread tropical species, found throughout the world. Its native range is unknown.

The ghost ant is thought to be so named because the legs and abdomen of the insect look transparent, with only the head and thorax being dark brown in colour.

Observed in infested buildings with the naked eye they are quite difficult to distinguish from pharaoh ants, being virtually of the same size.

Like a lot of small insects a positive identification can only be made once is a specimen is looked at through a microscope.

The worker ants form trails like pharaoh ants, taking food back to the nest, and also like pharaoh ants, the queens are communal, so that there can be several queens in a colony, and several thousand workers. New colonies can be formed when a queen and some workers migrate away.
